Maternity Session Prep Guide

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

We have compiled a few things to keep in mind when preparing for your maternity session; so save this information somewhere you can easily find it a day or two before your scheduled session.

1. Plan ahead – It’s best to book a session beforehand to save a spot on the studio calendar. The ideal time is between 31 and 36 weeks of pregnancy.
2. Style – Everyone is different and has their own idea of what their session should look like. If possible, send us some sample shots of things you like or what you don’t like so we can customize your session.
3. Our Studio – we host most sessions in our studio, check out our website for photos HERE
4. Session – Be prepared to stay for 2 hours to ensure we get the best photos.
5. Prep – We’re going to take photos of your beautiful body, so remove any tight fitting items that may leave marks on your skin at least 90 minutes prior to the session.
6. Clothing – Options of clothing are good and please keep in mind that we have a number of maternity gowns that look beautiful in photographs (see our portfolio for examples HERE).
7. Grooming for Dad – Dad may be in a photo or two as well, so make sure nails and beards are trimmed and avoid logo tops.
8. Relax – Take the time you need before your session to relax; this activity is intended to make you feel celebrated and beautiful and we want you to enjoy your time with us.

Newborn Photography Session Prep Guide

First things first congratulations!

It’s an amazing journey you are about to embark upon and thereís a lot to consider when getting to the end of your pregnancy but we definitely encourage you to consider newborn photos for your little one and the absolute best time to plan for the session is while you’re waiting for your bundle of joy to arrive. We have compiled a few things to keep in mind when preparing for the session; so save this information somewhere you can easily find it a day or two before your scheduled newborn session.

1. Plan ahead.  It’s best to book a session before baby’s arrival to ensure you have a spot on the studio calendar. After baby arrives, send us a text or email to confirm your date and time for the session.
2. Timing. The best time for the session is between 6 and 14 days old; this is when babies sleep the most and are more pliable for the poses we put them in.
3. Our Studio.  We host all session in our studio, check out our website for photos HERE
4. Baby Prep.  Loosen diapers and clothing 30-45 minutes before the session to avoid imprints in photos.
5. Feeding.  Babies will sleep best right after feeding, so please ensure baby is full upon arrival of the studio.
6. Session.  Be prepared to stay for 2-3 hours to ensure we get the best photos.
7. Naked Babies.  More often than not, newborn sessions revolve around babies being naked. Don’t panic if your little angel pees or something more on our props; it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time it happens!
8. Props.  We have an array of props to use but if you have something you would like to use, let us know and bring it along!
9. Simple Is Key. You will most likely also be in a photo or two; keep your patterns limited and neutral.
10. Grooming for Dad.  Dad will be in a photo or two as well, so make sure nails and beards are trimmed, avoid logo tops and try to avoid button down tops.
