Newborn Photography Session Prep Guide

First things first congratulations!

It’s an amazing journey you are about to embark upon and thereís a lot to consider when getting to the end of your pregnancy but we definitely encourage you to consider newborn photos for your little one and the absolute best time to plan for the session is while you’re waiting for your bundle of joy to arrive. We have compiled a few things to keep in mind when preparing for the session; so save this information somewhere you can easily find it a day or two before your scheduled newborn session.

1. Plan ahead.  It’s best to book a session before baby’s arrival to ensure you have a spot on the studio calendar. After baby arrives, send us a text or email to confirm your date and time for the session.
2. Timing. The best time for the session is between 6 and 14 days old; this is when babies sleep the most and are more pliable for the poses we put them in.
3. Our Studio.  We host all session in our studio, check out our website for photos HERE
4. Baby Prep.  Loosen diapers and clothing 30-45 minutes before the session to avoid imprints in photos.
5. Feeding.  Babies will sleep best right after feeding, so please ensure baby is full upon arrival of the studio.
6. Session.  Be prepared to stay for 2-3 hours to ensure we get the best photos.
7. Naked Babies.  More often than not, newborn sessions revolve around babies being naked. Don’t panic if your little angel pees or something more on our props; it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time it happens!
8. Props.  We have an array of props to use but if you have something you would like to use, let us know and bring it along!
9. Simple Is Key. You will most likely also be in a photo or two; keep your patterns limited and neutral.
10. Grooming for Dad.  Dad will be in a photo or two as well, so make sure nails and beards are trimmed, avoid logo tops and try to avoid button down tops.
